π¨πΎ Preparation Activities β Cyprus
Before the Youth Exchange, the Cypriot participants carried out a variety of preparation activities aimed at exploring the project's main themes β youth empowerment, participation, and mental comfort. They conducted mini research projects on mental health and physical activity among young people in Cyprus, examining how sports, teamwork, and community initiatives promote emotional balance and resilience. Through their work, they identified key national practices such as "Sports for All" and "MindFit Cyprus", and analyzed barriers that young people face when engaging in physical activity. The participants also prepared posters, awareness materials, and reflective essays, such as "The Mental Benefits of Sports" and "Ways to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone", highlighting how confidence and mental well-being are interconnected. These activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and self-expression, helping the team build a strong foundation of knowledge and motivation before meeting their peers during the Youth Exchange in Pissouri.
π¨πΎ Research Introduction β Cyprus
As part of the preparation phase for the project "MYTHS AND FACTS: Unveiling the Truth (MAF)", the Cypriot team carried out a detailed research study titled "Mental Comfort and Physical Activity in Cyprus." The goal was to explore the connection between mental well-being and sports among young people, while identifying ways to empower youth through healthy lifestyles and active participation. The research examined how sports, teamwork, and outdoor activities help reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen emotional resilience. Participants analyzed national and local initiatives, school programs, and youth-led campaigns that promote both mental and physical health, emphasizing the importance of inclusion and community engagement.
The study highlighted several successful practices, such as "Sports for All" by the Cyprus Sports Organisation, "Step Out Cyprus" by Active Zone Outdoor, and "Restart Cyprus", a youth-driven campaign encouraging openness about mental health. It also outlined barriers that young people faceβsuch as stigma, limited facilities, and financial constraintsβand provided recommendations to make sports more accessible, inclusive, and supportive of mental well-being. Through this research, the Cypriot participants developed critical thinking, teamwork, and research skills while deepening their understanding of the project's core theme: how myths and facts about mental health can be challenged through knowledge, dialogue, and participation.
The following chapter presents the full research outcomes, including data summaries, national programs, best practices, and proposals for improving youth well-being in Cyprus through physical activity, empathy, and social connection.
Posters from Cyprus Team
The Cyprus team proudly presents their contribution to the Erasmus+ project "Step Out of Your Comfort Zone Mentally: Embrace the Unknown." Through our research and creative work, we explored how mental health and physical activity are deeply connected. By learning to face challenges, move our bodies, and step beyond what feels safe, we discovered that real growth starts outside our comfort zone.
Our posters highlight practical ways to build confidence, stay positive, and support each other's mental well-being. Together, we show that mental comfort is not about staying still β it's about learning, acting, and embracing change.
